This chart shows Chinese banks' rising NPL ratios
Ratios for 10 banks increased to 1.66% at end-2015.
According to Moody's, the performance of headline asset quality metrics was mixed in the second half of 2015, but forward-looking asset metrics indicate continued asset quality pressure over the next 12-18 months.
"The headline NPL ratio for the 10 banks increased by 43 basis points to 1.66% at end-2015. The ratio increased by 19 basis points in the second half of the year, compared with 24 basis points in the first half. The rise likely understates the pace of asset deterioration, as the banks increased their NPL sales and write-offs to keep their NPL ratios down."
