Axis Bank names Nurani Subramanian Vishwanathan as independent director
Vishwanathan has had diverse experiences as a central banker since 1981.
Axis Bank Limited has appointed Nurani Subramanian Vishwanathan as an additional independent director, the bank's SGX filing said.
Vishwanathan will serve as independent director for four years, up to 29 May 2027
Vishwanathan began his career as a central banker when he joined RBI in 1981 as a direct recruit officer. He rose through the ranks and retired as deputy governor in March 2020.
Vishwanathan also became director-supervision at the Bank of Mauritius and the chief vigilance officer and head of Internal Audit at the Industrial Financial Corporation of India.
He was also a member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India between July 2016 to March 2020.
Before the appointment, Vishwanathan holds non-executive chairperson roles in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology, Acuite Ratings and Research Ltd., and Razorpay.
He also has advisory roles in the National Stock Exchange of India and Ernst and Young LLP.
