ZA Bank names former chief executive of rival virtual bank as new CEO
Ronald Iu joined ZA Bank’s parent ZA International in February 2022.
Hong Kong’s ZA Bank has named Ronald Iu as its new chief executive officer and executive director, effective 1 February.
Prior to joining ZA International in February 2022, Iu served as chief executive of Airstar Bank–one of Hong Kong’s eight virtual only banks and a rival lender to ZA Bank.
Before becoming ZA Bank’s CEO, Iu served as chief risk officer of ZA Bank. He had also served as chief strategy officer of ZA International, the bank’s parent company.
He has also served as senior management in various global and local financial institutions, including GE Capital (HK), China CITIC Bank International, Standard Chartered, and PrimeCredit.

Ronald succeeds Rockson Hsu who has stepped down as CEO and Executive Director of ZA Bank to pursue new opportunities, the bank said in a press release.
Iu will step down as Chief Risk Officer with immediate effect. ZA Bank said that it will announce the appointment of a new CRO in due course.
