OCBC appoints first-ever head of Group Data Office
MacDonald led the creation of the bank’s dedicated AI unit in 2018.
OCBC has named Donald MacDonald as its first-ever head of Group Data Office.
The newly created role will lead the bank’s data strategy and is tasked with establishing OCBC as a leading data-driven organisation in the region.
MacDonald has served as the acting head of the Group Data Office since June 2021. He will report directly to the Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) Lim Khiang Tong.

MacDonald spearheaded the creation and building of a dedicated artificial intelligence unit in 2018, with OCBC becoming the first bank in the region to do so.
He has over 30 years of experience in the data and analytics field in various global and tech companies and has worked for PwC Consulting and IBM.
He joined OCBC Bank in 2004 as the lead of a customer analytics team in the Consumer Financial Services division and, eventually, took over as the head of Group Customer Analytics & Decisioning in 2010.
