Hong Kong reports 8,600 average withdrawals per ATM in a month: study

Average usage levels per ATM is expected to rise as the number of ATMs decreases.

Hong Kong reported the highest average number of cash withdrawals per ATM, at 8,600 withdrawals per ATM machine per month, according to research and consulting firm RBR Data Services.

About 2 in 3 of the markets studied– 41 markets out of 63– saw a rise in withdrawals.

This may be due to rising cost of living and cash being seen as “the most reliably accepted payment method,” the study noted.

Apart from Hong Kong, Kenya was also noted to have a relatively high average usage, but this may just be due to having lesser ATM machines.

Overall, despite the rise in 41 markets, the number of cash withdrawals at ATMs worldwide is still expected to decrease slowly over the next few years, as alternative payment and banking methods make further inroads.

Average usage levels are expected to rise as the number of ATMs in operation continues to decrease.

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
