Siam Commercial Bank joins the Equator Principles Association
SCB joins 128 financial institutions from around the world who are also signatories.
Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) has become a signatory of the Equator Principles (EP).
The EP is a financial industry benchmark for systematically determining, assessing, and managing environmental and social risk in project finance.
SCB joins the 128 financial institutions that have applied the Equator Principles in 39 countries around the world.
Implementing the principles will assist SCB in managing business risks in a more inclusive manner, according to Arthid Nanthawithaya, SCB CEO and chairman of the executive committee.
It will also reportedly allow the bank and its clients to collaborate on assessing and formulating guidelines for mitigating environmental and social risks, all while adhering to world-class standards and procedures.
“This is a collaborative effort to improve the standard of Thai banking while also pushing Thailand toward becoming a significant player in the ASEAN green business market. SCB is ready to act as a link between all sectors of growth and sustainable development, resulting in shared values and beneficial change for society and the planet,” Nanthawithaya said.
