Westpac names Anthony Miller as CEO
Before joining Westpac, Miller was the Australia/NZ CEO of Deutsche Bank for 4 years.
Westpac has named Anthony Miller as its new CEO beginning December.
Miller, an internal candidate, will succeed Peter King. He first joined Westpac in 2020, running the Westpac Institutional Bank, before taking over the business & wealth division in 2023.
Chairman Steven Gregg says the appointment of an internal successor will ensure a “seamless transition”, according to a press release posted on the Westpac website.
Prior to joining Westpac, Miller worked with Deutsche Bank for four years as the Australia/ New Zealand CEO and spent 16 years working at Goldman Sachs.
Two of his siblings represented Australia at the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
Miller takes over from King, who was appointed in 2019 and steered Westpac through COVID and an overhaul of Westpac’s risk management. During King’s time, Westpac exited 10 businesses.
