Hacker returns $260m of stolen crypto tokens to Poly Network

About $354m in crypto funds, mostly Ethereum tokens, are yet to be returned.

Poly Network has received back $260m or about 40% of its cryptocurrency assets stolen days ago, the crypto platform said in a tweet.

An unnamed hacker took about $613m of digital coins last 10 August in what Poly Network said is the biggest in decentralized finance history. As of 11 August, Poly Network said that the hacker has returned $256m worth of BSC tokens, $3.3m worth of Ethereum tokens, and $1m in Polygon tokens.

About $268m in Ethereum tokens and $84m in Polygon tokens are yet to be returned, Poly Network said.

US-based blockchain data platform Chainalysis is optimistic that Poly Network will get the funds back.

“Whilst we certainly don’t expect every cryptocurrency hack to end with the attacker returning the stolen funds, in this case, it appears Poly Network will get its money back and has also learned about an important vulnerability its team can now patch up,” Chainalysis said in a press statement. “Ultimately, the ecosystem will be stronger for this."

What is Lorem Ipsum?
What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
