Fintech venture investments in Asia could hit $548b by 2028, according to a report by fintech company UnaFinancial, using data from Tracxn.
In 2023, Asia has already amassed $369b in 2023, second to North America, whose fintechs clinched $453b in venture investments. North America is expected to get $834b in fintech investments by 2028.
Southeast Asia's fintechs in particular clinched $851m of funding in the first six months of 2024, according to a separate report by Tracxn.
E-commerce was the top fintech sector in 2023, accounting for 59% of the total investments, reportse UnaFinancial. Digital payments and transfers (17%) and digital lending (11%) were other top sectors.
UnaFinance noted that the evolving regulatory framework in the region, particularly the high level of adoption to newly developed technologies, are drivers of positive change in Asia.
Overall, global fintech venture investment volumes amounted to $1.06t in 2023. The volume of investments in fintech startups could increase by 77% to $1.88t by 2028, according to estimates by UnaFinancial.
