Mizuho, UNDP team up to support impact businesses
UNDP will provide Mizuho with advisory services.
Mizuho Financial Group and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are collaborating to expand initiatives supporting impact businesses.
Under the agreement, the UNDP will provide Mizuho with advisory services to strengthen the ability to designate sustainable investment strategies, operations, and projects.
Mizuho will also leverage the UNDP’s expertise and global network to develop and enhance talent, gain knowledge of the global impact business, and carry out initiatives to promote development of the impact business in Asia, including Japan, and globally, the Japanese megabank stated in a press release posted on its website.
Under their collaboration, Mizuho and UNDP said that they are aiming to find solutions to social problems as well as increase economic and corporate value in Asia including Japan.
This is the first collaboration agreement between Mizuho and UNDP.
This expands on Mizuho’s impact on business efforts in 2024. Earlier in May, the Japanese megabank published an Impact Business Compat report, which featured Mizuho’s policies regarding impact as well as its views on the potential of impact businesses potential and related policy initiatives.
Earlier in 2022, Mizuho was the first financial institution in the world to participate in the UNDP’s SDG Impact Standards Training.
