Siam Commercial Bank unveils tap-to-pay service
It is available via the Mae Manee app.
Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) has launched a tap-to-pay service in Thailand, available via the Mae Manee app.
Created in partnership with Mastercard, Visa, and Cybersource, “SCB Tap-To-Pay” enables merchants to accept payments through contactless debit and credit cards, virtual cards, and e-wallets on Google Pay, Fitbit Pay, and Garmin Pay.
The solution is currently available to merchants who register for the Mae Manee app and use its Tap-To-Pay feature. It will be available for other payment tools in the future, Thailand’s oldest bank said in a press release.
This eliminates the need for EDC machines.
"This solution functions like a virtual EDC machine without the need for terminal installation or monthly fees,” said Thanawatn Kittisuwan, SCB first executive vice president, head of Digital Juristic & Payment.
“The technology is initially being implemented on the Mae Manee app with the new 'SCB Tap-To-Pay' feature, before rolling out to other payment tools such as point of sale (POS) and cash on delivery (COD) systems, tablets, and other options in the future,” Kittisuwan said.
