DBS Taiwan Partners with Thales to issue 2-million eco-friendly cards

The bank aims to become the largest issuer of sustainable cards.

DBS Taiwan announced a collaboration with Thales to issue over two million payment cards, following DBS Taiwan’s merger with Citibank.

This includes more than one million cards made from bio-sourced Polylactic Acid (PLA).

These Thales PLA cards, derived from renewable sources like non-edible corn and certified for their eco-friendliness, are part of Thales’ broader commitment to sustainable payment solutions.

In 2020, with support from Thales, DBS Taiwan issued Asia’s first bio-sourced credit card to promote customer awareness and use of environmentally friendly payment products.

This year, Thales is assisting DBS Taiwan in becoming the largest issuer of sustainable payment cards in Asia, it said in a joint statement.
